SAN DIEGO, Aug. 28, 2008Sony is adding high-definition movie recording to its digital camera line with the introduction of the Cyber-shot® DSC-T500 model. This 10-megapixel camera features wide and full-screen 720p movie recording at 30 frames per second in fine, standardand VGA recording modes. This resolution is three times higher than standard-definition movies. The movie function is based on the MPEG4 AVC/H.264 codec for video compression and stereo audio. Benefits of the format include high-quality video as well as small file sizes that are easy to download, upload and share.

“Our research revealed that people like to shoot video with their point-and-shoot cameras, but were very dissatisfied with the video quality and the resulting large files,” said Phil Lubell, director of di

gital camera marketing at Sony Electronics. “Our new T500 fulfills this customer need for a digital camera that delivers high-quality movies in a small form factor.”

Movie capture on this model is further enhanced to include zoom while in recording mode and high-sensitivity shooting for natural- or low-light environments. The cameracan continuously record a video clip up to 10 minutes in length. It can hold hours of clips by expanding the camera’s capacity with a Memory Stick® media card (media sold separately), which now has capacities up to 16 GB. It also features a dual photo and video capture mode. Simply press the photo button while in movie mode and capture up to three photos with no recording interruption

It has a Carl Zeiss® 5x optical zoom lens with a wide field of view (33 – 165 mm, 35 mm equivalency). It incorporates Optical SteadyShot™ image stabilization and high sensitivity settings up to ISO3200 helps combat blur and facilitate flash-free shooting

for natural-exposed photos. The detects up to eight faces in the camera frame and adjusts focus, exposure and flash.model also incorporates face detection technology, an intelligent function that automaticallydetects up to eight faces in the camera frame and adjusts focus, exposure and flash.

The T500 camera connects to a compatible HD television via an HDMI™ cable (sold separately). Photos and videos can be enjoyed as slide shows in high definition for a cinematic experience. Subjects can take center stage as slideshows move through sophisticated pans, fades and wipes. Slide shows are given a boost with background music, including use of up to four pre-recorded music tracks of up to five minutes in length. You can even add your own tunes, using the bundled software.

Cherry Wood Lancaster Box Camera c1880-1900

Beautiful Cherry Wood

Lancaster Box Camera

Removable Brass Lens that measures 2 1/4” Long On Camera.

Lens Reads : R J Beck No. 2339/F8-F64 ( 4-256 ). 8 x 5 Rect.
9 Inch Focus.

Removable Wood Front Face Where Lens Is Mounted.

Removable Back Plate.

Camera Also Comes With 3 Additional Wood Accessories (one is an
extension & the other two appear to be film loading holders).

I must admit, I am uncertain as to whether or not these additional
pieces originally go with this particular antique box camera, I'll keep
them together anyway.

Also Note : Lancaster Name Plate On Front & Inside Has Either
Fallen Off Or Been Removed Over The Years / Does Not Hinder The
Overall Beauty Of This Turn Of The Century Camera In Anyway

I Believe The Wood Is Cherry. It's absolutely beautiful though and
the colour of the wood is beautiful.

It is in remarkably good condition when we consider the age of
it approx 1880 - 1900.

Without messing around with it too much the bellows do seem to
be in very good order as well which is a relief, they always seem
to have a crack in them no matter what, but these are solid.

I paid £80 from auction, worth approx £300 now.

I'll upload 4 pics now ... click to make them bigger:

The Camera Review Blog - Good Name ?

I used the name 'The Camera Review Blog' for a good reason but I thought I would ask peoples opinions. Every single blog on the net these days is something along the lines of 'The Digital Camera Review Blog' or 'Blogging Digital Cameras' etc etc. Obviously people need to know about the latest up to date products out there, and where to get them cheaply, but I have a passion for collecting antique cameras. I just love the old equipment and have quite a nice variety in my collection. So I thought it would be a bit different if I included some antique stuff in here, some stuff from the 60s, 70s, 80s etc etc and on top of that provide a good variety of up to date reviews and details of where you can all go to grab a bargain !

I look at some the recent developments in cameras and I stand there in awe at such magnificent advances in technology, but on the other hand I can look at one of my box cameras from the 1920s and this fills me with just as much awe, that even back then they had figured out the art of picture making. The New & Old make a beautiful contrast, so I will have them side by side in here.

Add to this a whole heap of accessories and such like and I'm going to be quite busy here I feel. So wish me and 'The Camera Review Blog' some good luck.
